Don't wait til the New Year....start today!

I'm sitting here thinking, wow, this time last year I had just finished doing Insanity. I lost all of my baby weight (plus some) and I was 7 months postpartum. I never flexed before for a pic and my husband took this. It may not be much, but to me, never seeing muscles like that on my body, ever, and especially after just having a baby....well, it was awesome!!! And that was after 1 round of Insanity, a 60 day program. 
Why am I telling you this? Well, there is about 12 weeks until Jan 1. That is enough time to do an entire fitness program! Seriously!
I really want to get a group of people together (where are my moms out there?!) and get a head start on New Year's resolution and fight through this holiday season without packing on the pounds.
You don't need a New Year to start and you don't need to stress about the holiday weight gain. Fight through it! And look good at all of those holiday parties 
I'm teaming up with my other coaches and we have the new P90 group forming, a fight the holidays with the 21 day fix group, and a short on time and busy parent group with Focus T25 (my favorite).

Fall is Here!

It's Monday, Monday, MONDAY!
And what do I say every Monday, fresh day, fresh week, fresh START!
And guess what, tomorrow is the first day of FALL! yay or.......nay? (still undecided  )
But what that means is, it's time to keep GOING with your fitness routine and don't FALL off track. Going into the colder season, we don't want to pack on the pounds that we've been working so hard to keep off. That way, when Spring comes around, people are envious of us, right?!
So if you are kicking butt keep going!!
If you FALL into the category of being in a rut or just can't find the motivation, let's change that! I have a 21 Day Fix group coming up that I would love for you to be a part of. I have ongoing T25 and Piyo groups going (and I'm doing this as well, so I can be your partner and help you through it) or if you're interested in finding something that fits more your style, let's find that as well.

My favorite way to make Shakeology!!

I LOVE Shakeology. It is my magic superpowers! It helped me lose all of my pregnancy weight along with the help of Insanity and Focus T25.

This is just a few of the amazing things it has done for me
-have more energy
-don't take naps in the afternoon
-cut back on caffeine (no more red bull or energy drinks for me!)
-cut out random junk food I used to grab, just because
-better mood
-better digestion
-keeps me full until my next meal
-perfect for my after workout snack or meal
-don't take a multi-vitamin anymore

and, and, and.......yeah, I could go on and on!

Apple Harvest Muffins

Apple Harvest Muffins
Take advantage of fall with these moist muffins. They’re less than 100 calories each!
Total Time: 28 min.
Prep Time: 10 min.
Cooking Time: 18 min.
Yield: 12 servings, 1 muffin each

Nonstick cooking spray (optional)
1½ cups whole wheat flour
½ cup wheat bran (or oat bran)
1 Tbsp. baking powder
½ tsp. baking soda
¾ cup apple butter, no sugar added
½ cup low-fat buttermilk (or nonfat plain yogurt)
2 large egg whites
1 medium apple, chopped (about 1 cup)
½ cup chopped pitted prunes
1. Preheat oven to 350° F.
2. Prepare twelve muffin cups by lining with muffin papers or coating with spray.
3. Combine flour, bran, baking powder, and baking soda in a medium bowl; mix well. Set aside.
4. Combine apple butter, buttermilk, and egg whites in a large bowl; mix well.
5. Add flour mixture to apple butter mixture; mix until just blended.
6. Add apples and prunes; mix until just blended.
7. Divide batter among twelve prepared muffin cups.
8. Bake for 16 to 18 minutes, or until golden brown and tester inserted into the center comes out clean.
9. Transfer muffins to rack; cool.

I just have to share some of the amazing meals that were prepared in my last 7 days of clean eating group. Don't they look delicious?
In those 7 days, everyone said they had more energy, less bloating, lighter on their feet, had great moods and on average lost between 3-8 lbs.

Let it Go!

There is a saying among dancers.

Leave it on the stage.

Pour your heart, your emotions, your feelings....everything... pour it into your dance and leave it on the stage when you walk off.

Growing up and dancing for 25 years, that was my release. It was my escape. Whether it was from a fight with a friend from grade school, a heart broken by a crush or boyfriend, a misunderstanding with my mom or dad, or just because.....I needed to let some emotion out. When I danced, I let go of everything and just let the music take me away and let my body and feelings go with it. Just go for it, let everything go and be in the moment. Be YOU!

I'm not on stage anymore and I retired from dancing about 6 years ago. I still put on music from time to time and dance around my house. I traded in my pointe and character shoes for some sweet, pink Nike ones. And now I get my frustrations out by doing Insanity or T25.

Whatever it is, find an outlet that you can let your mind be free and let your passion and emotion take over. It helps you let go of everything. Sweat it out. Cry it out. SCREAM it out. And leave it on the floor.

Shakeology Myths Debunked!

I came across some great info about Shakeology that a fellow coach explained fantastically! Check it out.....
Beachbody® Coach, Seay Stanford, feels so passionate about the shake that changed her life that she wrote the article below to debunk all those Shakeology Myths floating around. This article is so powerful and real that we had no choice but to share it with the rest of the world. So here you go. Enjoy! And thanks, Seay. We couldn’t have said it better ourselves.
#1 MISCONCEPTION: Shakeology is a protein shake.
Meaning just a shake that provides extra protein. I can’t blame the general public for thinking this since “protein shake” has become nearly an interchangeable term for ANY shake. But, all shakes are not created equal—especially ones that contain superfoods. Shakeology is a very nutrient-dense shake that can be used for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. You’d have to eat a whole lot of fruits and vegetables to equal the nutrition in a single glass of Shakeology—and you probably couldn’t do it for less than 170 calories. Shakeology makes it very easy to cut your calories without substantially cutting down your daily volume of nutrients needed. Truth be told, the majority of people are WAY MORE nutrient deficient, than they are protein deficient. So why just stop at a protein shake?
#2 MISCONCEPTION: Shakeology is about comparing carbs, proteins, and fats to other shakes.
This is not at all what you should be comparing when you look at other shakes versus Shakeology. Sure, other shakes have 0 grams of sugar. But how do you think those shakes achieve that? Hint, it’s not natural. Yes, that’s right, they are probably using ARTIFICIAL sweeteners to get to 0 grams of sugar. Even fruit has sugar in it. A shake with 0 grams of sugar is using ARTIFICIAL sweeteners. Shakeology has NO artificial sweeteners, NO artificial colors, NO soy, NO artificial stimulants, and NO artificial flavors. One of its main sweeteners is Stevia, which is plant-based.
#3 MISCONCEPTION: Shakeology is just a bunch of extracts, with no whole-food ingredients.
That’s not true. Whenever it’s possible and sustainable for the formula, the superfoods in Shakeology are preserved in their whole-food state to retain maximum nutrient value. It’s a very difficult process to use whole, plant-based ingredients so that the formula retains as much nutritional value as possible, but Shakeology has a whole team of scientists whose mission is to maximize the nutrition in every ingredient in Shakeology. Imagine trying to juice all those superfoods! Shakeology is way less expensive and a huge time-saver.
#4 MISCONCEPTION: Shakeology is expensive.
To anyone who feels this product is expensive I know that I have not done my diligence in breaking down its REAL VALUE. Most people will agree that they would spend an average of $3 to $7 on a HEALTHY nutritious meal. I know most store-bought salads cost even more than that, and don’t contain nearly the dense concentration of nutrients. But on average, I think we can all agree healthy meals run between $3 and $7. Shakeology, at $4.33 per shake, comes in on the LOW END of average. (You can make Shakeology into a breakfast or lunch that you’d be buying anyway.) Not only are you spending less than you normally would, you’re also getting vital nutrients your body needs, that you just can’t get from your run-of-the-mill salad, plus the normal range of vitamins and minerals. So you can replace your VITAMINS, too. Sure, you may need a specific vitamin, based on your conditions, geography, or age—but in general, Shakeology will provide you with a solid base of your whole-food nutrients.
When was the last time you went to your grocery store and bought THIRTY meals all at once? Typically, I’m guessing, you buy a few days’ worth each time. When you buy a bulk bag of Shakeology, you are buying 30 of your shakes up-front. That means you’ll spend less money at the grocery store. Because of the grocery savings, I actually deduct my monthly Shakeology from my grocery budget. For the price, I cannot duplicate its vast quality of ingredients and nutrients.
#5 MISCONCEPTION: Shakeology is only for weight loss.
Most shakes are marketed this way. But here’s the thing. Anything will induce weight loss if it’s low enough in calories. Just because you are drinking a shake, does not mean the fat will melt off. Actually, if you are not getting enough nutrients and calories you will actually inhibit your weight-loss efforts. Shakeology is about HEALTH. When you put the RIGHT nutrients in your body that it needs to develop, heal, recover, repair, and thrive, you may ultimately have MORE energy, LESS cravings, and FEEL better therefore you eat less and become more active. With Shakeology, weight loss becomes a BY-PRODUCT of dense nutrition.
To make my point, when was the last time you dieted and cut calories only to feel tired, grouchy, and had a ton of cravings? That is because you may have been nutrient deficient. What if you’re at your goal weight, or need to GAIN weight? Because Shakeology is about DENSE NUTRITION you can use it as your base and add clean calories to make it 300 calories or more. Not everyone needs to lose weight, but everyone needs to be healthier. Shakeology isn’t MAGIC. It’s just clean dense nutrition made SUPER easy for everyone at a very affordable price. It’s my family’s “fast food” on the counter. Yes, my family goes through 4–5 bags a MONTH because even though we all have different weight and caloric needs, we all share the same NUTRITIONAL needs. Shakeology isn’t a weight-loss shake—it’s a nutrition shake.

Turkey Taco Chili

What's for dinner?!
I made this super easy, taco chili last night in the crockpot. Leftovers the next day are even better. Simple and quick.
Prep:20 min
Cook:4 hr (low) or 2 hr (high)
1 to 1 1/2 lbs of ground turkey meat
2 15 oz cans diced tomatoes (I use fire roasted)
1 15 oz can red kidney beans (or any beans you like)
1 15 oz can of whole kernel corn (or frozen)
1 1.25 oz envelope taco seasoning mix
1 green bell pepper diced (optional)
1 jalapeño, diced (optional)
1. In a large skillet, brown turkey meat over medium heat. Drain off fat.
2. In crockpot, combine meat, tomatoes, beans, corn, taco seasoning, green bell pepper, and jalapeño. Mix.
3. Cover and cook on low for 4 hrs or high for 2 hrs.
Enjoy!! So good!!

21 Day Fix group starting

Good morning everyone! Happy MONDAY! You all know how much I love Mondays. New day, new week, fresh start.
Well, it got me thinking. Summer is winding down (boooooooo!!!!!) the holidays are fast approaching (anyone else see Thanksgiving decorations in the stores yet?) and I want to go into the holiday season looking hot! Anyone else?
Soooo......I was thinking of doing the 21 Day Fix group this month. This way it will get our eating in check before we gorge ourselves with all of the holiday yumminess.
What is the 21 day fix program?
**It is based on clean eating. We use color coded portion controlled containers that measure our food for us (brilliant) We don't cut out any food groups and I promise you won't starve. Really. In fact, sometimes it's hard for me to even finish all of my food for the day.
*And bonus, it comes with Shakeology and 30 minute workouts. ‪#‎BOOM‬
My last month's clean eating group was based on this program and everyone lost between 3 and 8 lbs.....for 1 WEEK! Imagine doing it for 21 days!! It's a pretty amazing program, I have learned about eating and portion control so much from it.

Healthy Cookie Dough Alternative?!

I'm a sucker for cookie dough. what? 
I've had this alternative a couple of times before....not bad!
I actually use vanilla greek yogurt. Try it.
My daughter Lilah seemed to like it as well!
Cookie Dough Greek Yogurt
1/2 C. Greek yogurt
2 Tbsp. mini chocolate chips
1 Tbsp. peanut butter
1 Tbsp. honey
Pinch sea salt
1/2 tsp. vanilla
Mix everything in a bowl and enjoy!

Shakeology ice cream?! Ummm, yes please!!
How many of you have used Shakeology in other recipes besides just your shake? A clever idea my husband does is put a scoop of vanilla Shakeology into a blueberry pancake mix and make them for our kids. I think they're probably the best pancakes I've ever had. They come out super fluffy and moist, try it! And our kids are eating something healthy for them.
We also love to make Shakeology energy bars. Super addicting and great for on the go snacks. I love them for dessert, too! We keep them in the freezer, yummmmm.

Focus T25

I used to think I wasn't working out unless it was for an hour or more. That was the old me. Since becoming a mommy, I don't always have time to get in an hour workout, are you kidding me? That's why my favorite workout and go-to when I'm short on time is ‪#‎FocusT25‬! I still get the results I want, but in half the time (even less than that if you factor in driving to a gym!) It's not about working out longer, it's about effort. Focus! If you give it your all for 25 minutes and I can guarantee, you'll be loving your results too! (and saving the extra time!)

Motivation Monday

Hello Fitness beauties!! It's Motivation Monday! A Fresh week, a fresh day, and fresh start! My goodness do I need it! I've fallen so far off track! But you know what, I'm not going to beat myself up. I was enjoying vacation, summer, being with my kids and husband's time to get serious and kinda pull in the reigns a bit.
This time of year is very near and dear to me. It was one year ago that I started a little fitness workout called Insanity. I committed for a full 60 days and drank Shakeology......that's it. I wasn't even focusing on clean eating at that time either. It literally changed my life! I can't believe I didn't do it sooner. I was so afraid to commit and so afraid to spend the money to buy the program that I put it off. Man....the feeling of losing those pregnancy pounds was worth 10 times what I paid for Insanity...I would do it again in a heartbeat. Not only did it change my body but emotionally and mentally as well. It really made me want to go out and help others because I knew how good it felt to feel happy in my own skin so I wanted to pay it forward. Therefore, I became a coach!
A key success to my accomplishment was my support group and my success husband! Without him by my side, it would've been very hard to stay committed. I truly believe having an accountability group along with my husband as my workout partner helped me stay dedicated.
With that said, I am started my next group Sept 15. YOU pick the workout program AND you pick a WORKOUT PARTNER to do it with. We'll call it the END OF SUMMER KNOCKOUT challenge.
I want everyone to feel EMPOWERED and SEXY by the time the holidays come around.

Tough Mudder - Tahoe

If you didn't know, I did the Tough Mudder race in Truckee, CA this past Saturday. This was my experience that I just posted to my timeline and wanted to share here.
2 days after Tough Mudder....still SORE!! Wow.....what an experience!! Definitely one of the hardest things I've ever been through. Not to mention I tweaked my MILE 2....and had to do the other 9 MILES with a hurt knee.
Now I've never had knee problems but holy cow, it felt like someone was stabbing me in the side of my knee every step I took. And the fact that the whole thing was either extremely uphill or extremely downhill made it excruciatingly painful and impossible.
BUT if I learned anything from Insanity, Beachbody, being in and leading support groups was to never give up! And I was thisclose to quitting about 10 times! My TEAM didn't let me down. Rachael Romero Robart and my husband Mikkel Dybvig both held my hand while struggling to even go down a simple hill while others jogged past us. Mikkel even carried me at times while people mumbled and snickered at me thinking that I was weak and couldn't make it. Which made me even more determined. I wasn't tired. In fact, I was impressed with the endurance I had!
Mile 8 and I was in tears from the pain. It made me mad and frustrated. I wanted to enjoy it and not wish it was over! But I'm stubborn and wanted that orange headband and beer
I think the last 3 miles all I kept saying was "Don't give up Don't give up, you're almost there, don't quit!"
I admit I had to skip the last couple of obstacles because at that point crossing the finish line was my ultimate goal.
We all held hands as we crossed and I hobbled across the finish line. Cheers, headbands, beers...yay!!! And then I cried.
Because I made it and didn't think I could. I wanted to give up and I didn't.
Will I do another one........ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm....I'll get back to you on that
But I'm glad I did it, I'm proud if myself for not quitting and it's something I will never forget doing. Check mark off the bucket list.
****Please, Never push through an injury, not recommended! ..and yes, my knee is still a bit tweaked so I think I'll rest for a week or so...I deserve it

Meal Prep!

Hello friends! 
So tonight's dinner consisted of our famous (to us) turkey patties and lots of grilled chicken so we are ready to grab and eat throughout the week. 

We marinate our chicken first. Tonight we did a mango habinero, spicy garlic, and pesto garlic chicken. (3 kinds) And if that weren't enough we added in the turkey patties. 

Basically what we do (for the turkey patties) is use turkey meat and just add whatever we want to it. Our favorites include colorful peppers, (hot and sweet), onion, garlic, spinach, mushrooms, cilantro, parsley, and spices. Saute with some olive oil or coconut oil. Mix in with the turkey meat and add some egg and breadcrumbs for consistency. Grill.

We make a ton to last for a couple of days. Great for protein. And we've gotten to the point where we don't even use a bun anymore. Just add mustard or ketchup on top, maybe add some tomato and avocado.

7 Days of Clean Eating

I just finished a 7 day clean eating challenge with a private group on Facebook and the results are in. Hard for me to even post these pics cause it shows I had a little too much fun indulging before the clean eating group  But that's what this blog is show you real results!
This is from 7 days of clean eating. Lots of water, veggies, lean proteins, fruit and good carbs. I ended up losing 4 pounds. My energy is through the roof and I slept better through the night. I was never hungry and I got rid of that bloated full stomach feeling. It really helped me get back on track and break my habit of bad eating. YES! I do fall off and don't exercise and eat bad foods. I'm human!
I just said enough was enough and drew the line. Got right back into eating healthy and now I feel awesome!
In the group, people lost anywhere from 3 pounds to 8 pounds! Just from making smart choices...for 7 days.
The eating plan was loosely based on the 21 day fix program which I cannot recommend enough!! I am encouraging you to start! Take that step and DO IT! If you've fallen off track, get back on. Stop with the excuses. You have to start somewhere. But just DO IT! Even if you suck and it's hard and you don't want to. Whether it's an eating plan or a workout regime. Start! What's the worst that can happen? You fall right back to where you are now. And then you start again. But what if you don't fail? And you keep going. And the weight falls off. And you're fitting into clothes you haven't worn in years and you feel good about yourself. And people start to notice. And you look amazing!! Good feeling to have right? Then what are you waiting for? Go get it! If you don't know where to start, I'll help. That's what I'm here for!
And if you are kicking butt, keep going! Every day counts and gets you closer to where you want to be. Don't ever give up! Keep going! Encourage others! Bring them on board. It's always great to have people with you.

Good Morning!! 
How is everyone doing on this beautiful, July, Monday morning?
I'm feeling a little sluggish from overindulging on some yummy food this past weekend and I'm totally guilty of skipping my last couple of workouts. So I'm going to get back on track today! I'm going to get my workout in, grocery shop and prepare my healthy foods this week, and drink plenty of water today.
You know people ask me, "How do you find the motivation to workout or eat right?"
The answer, I don't, I JUST DO IT! I don't think about it, it's just something I know I need to do and so, I do it.
I was reading my book this morning (The 15 Invaluable Laws of Growth by John C. Maxwell, READ IT) and I came across this passage:
Motivation is not going to strike you like lightning. And motivation is not something that someone else- friend, coach, family member, spouse - can bestow or force on you. The whole idea of motivation is a trap. Forget motivation. Just DO IT! Exercise, lose weight, eat healthy or whatever. Do it without motivation and then guess what. After you start doing the thing, that's when the motivation comes and makes it easy for you to keep on doing it.
Motivation is like love and happiness. It's a by-product. When you're actively engaged in doing something, it sneaks up and zaps you when you least expect it.
As Harvard psychologist Jerome Bruner says, "You're more likely to act yourself into feeling than feel yourself into action."
So ACT! Whatever it is you know you should do, DO IT!!

Find your WHY

When you start your fitness journey, there was something that MADE you want to start working out, right?!

We call it your WHY

I want you all to go back to your "WHY" and dig deep. WHY did you start this program? WHAT was it that you wanted to change? Was it to lose weight? And how would that make you feel? And when you get to your goal weight or finish the program, how awesome will that be? And how good will you feel about yourself? And when people start noticing a change in you, it feels so good, right?! We all want, whether you want to admit it or not, to hear other people praise about you. Cause it makes you realize, yeah, I am kicking ass, I want more of that! When you are stuck, or unmotivated, I want you to go back to these questions and answer them. And write them down. And put it on a post it so when you are falling off the wagon, I want you to look at that post it and remember WHY you are doing this. Because THAT is what is going to keep you going and cross that finish line.
